The standard head gives you maximum flexibility in sound and allows for excellent overall control and extremely soft playing of even the highest notes. The split E is particularly useful on the piccolo because it gives you complete confidence to play the top E as softly as you like. The g# mechanism helps the response of both top g# and top c and makes the them better in tune.
